Ahhhhhhhhhhh. *relaxes*
I spent the hours of Canada Day I wasn't working (holiday pay WOO!) watching fireworks out my window and the Due South marathon on CMT.

I am pleased to report that both the fireworks and the vintage Paul Gross were very pretty, and a good way to appreciate my country on the anniversary of the day of its official birth. *nods*

And now, happy fourth of July, Americans! Be glad you're getting a full long weekend, instead of a random Wednesday off. (Not that I got either, but did I mention the holiday pay? *g*)

*~*~*

I take it there wasn't new Burn Notice this week? *siiiiiigh*

My consolation prize: yesterday, I went out and got myself a netbook. It's an Acer Aspire One, which I have decided to name Westen. (Because it is sleek and unassuming, yet it can do anything. Seriously, it's about as powerful as my current desktop.) I anticipate it will bring me much joy. *knockonwood*

*~*~*

Goddammit, Polaris, why must you schedule all the panels I want to attend at the exact same friggin' time???

Next Saturday night is going to be an acrobatic feat of time management, I tell you what. (There's a Being Erica panel! Directly opposite a Supernatural panel! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DOOOOOOOO???!?!?!?! *sob*)

...so, yeah, I'm going to Polaris this year. Should I be on the lookout for any of you, my fine flisty folk?

*~*~*

One may know that Brett Parker is a jackass. Nevertheless, one can forget just how much of a jackass Brett Parker can be until one rewatches certain episodes of Power Play and gets some incontrovertible reminders.

...dude, Brett's a jackass. (Also: SO CANADIAN, OMG. There's a line in 'The Jumper'--Brett says, "Yeah, darn it, eh?"--and my hand to God, Riley has never sounded more like he comes from southwestern Ontario. Which, you know, he does--and, more importantly, Brett does--so it's not out of place or anything. But STILL, the HILARITY. :D)

Hee.

I think I heard that about Burn Notice not being on this week. Of course, I haven't had a chance to watch anything but the premiere of this season yet--I hate it when everything happens on Thursdays!

Yay, new toy. Westen's a *great* name for it--I hope it brings you happiness. Me, I have to figure out if I can get some anti-virus software on mine before I do much of anything with it. Yes, I'm paranoid. But with good reason. ;)

OH! Brainstorm. I just this week (don't laugh) figured out how to convert video files (some kinds, anyway) to play on my iPod. I can watch Power Play in Minnesota in the near future! It will be kinda close to the border....

So which Netbook did you buy? AVG has a free edition at their website; you have to hunt for it, but it's pretty efficient. (www.grisoft.com) And Super Anti Spyware is another good one with a great free service. I don't think I've ever had a virus problem.

One of my favorite things to do with my netbook is watch stuff on the train with it. Haven't tried watching much on my mp3 player, but I have a 4 gig one now and there's not a lot of room for movies there.

Do you mean the trial version, or is there a free one that won't expire? (I ask because the trial version was pretty easy to find, so I'm not sure that's what you meant!). Thank you for the tips!

They hide the free version these days; you really have to hunt for it. And they'll ask you if you want to buy the full version, but we've done fine with the freebie for years now.

It does become inconvenient when everything in life congregates on a single day of the week. Kind of makes having *many* days in a week seem superfluous, or something.

It's killing me that I can't access my mom's wireless at the moment, because I was counting on being able to do so precisely so I could arm Wee Westen against internet bad guys (just as Regular-Sized Michael is so thoroughly armed against human ones *g*). Well, I was also counting on being able to *be on the internet* while I'm housesitting...argh argh argh.

I hope your new toy brings *you* happiness!

Power Play in Minnesota...sounds about right. *g*

Yay for an Acer Aspire One! My blue Cookie approves of your Weston! I absolutely adore mine, though it's not really good for working on graphics. But it does fantastically for many other things.

Mine's working out well so far. It's the first portable computer I've had, so just *that* novelty isn't wearing off anytime soon. *g*

Hah. Netbooks are slowly taking over my circle of acquaintances. Surely someone has floated the theory where they are demonic familiars already?

FYI, your email address has sent me a message in Spanish with photo links attached. I assume it is spam of some kind. Thought you should know.

*siiiiigh* Yeah, it's spam. I got failed delivery notifications from a bunch of Spanish photo emails; I reeeeeeeeeally hope they're not indicative of my email having been hijacked by a virus. Stupid technology. *shakyfist*

I can get behind the demonic familiar theory. The more I think about it, the more sense it makes...
